Bespoke, hand made jewellery, taken from design concept, to studio, to you

Welcome to Blue Hare Jewellery!

I’ve been a frustrated artist for years, I’ve tried may different outlets but never quite found my niche! Painting, sculpture, pottery, glass blowing, the list is much longer!

I then took a totally different route and became a therapy radiographer working for the NHS. I have been lucky to treat and care for some lovely patients over the past 31 years.

Four years ago, my mother-in-law, Jennifer, gifted me a “Ring in a Day” experience. The whole day was amazing. I enjoyed every bit of it, from the initial design, to making the finished piece, which was a beautiful spinner ring, which I am still very proud of.

I was hooked, I had finally found my “thing.” I was lucky to have access to a very good jewellery school, and have completed "several" courses with them to further my skills. I am also lucky to have an amazing, supportive hubby, who is also very talented. He built my fantastic jewellery bench and soldering station and he's always on standby for IT questions and engineering assistance!

As my confidence and skills grew it became apparent that I could not keep, and wear everything I was making! Although I do keep the odd bit-Ssshh!

Friends and family were my first lovely customers, which I am so grateful for, you all know who your are!

So Blue Hare Jewellery came into being.

In 2023, I took the scary step of making this my "proper" job. After 31 years in the NHS, this was very daunting. But very exciting! I am designer, silversmith, maker, tea maker, accountant, stall holder, reluctant IT bod, the list continues!  So far, I've not been a bad boss!

Everything is designed, handmade, finished, polished, wrapped and packed by me in my small, cosy studio at home. Everything is solid silver. Made with care and attention to detail. Designed and made to last and to be worn and loved.

I am registered with the Birmingham Assay office and comply with hallmarking regulations.

I make jewellery with an organic, contemporary feel, something a bit different.  I really enjoy experimenting with different textures and finishes, which makes every piece totally unique.

The process is still amazing, from a drawing on paper, to a shiny new treasure for someone, and the best bit is hearing or seeing someone’s reaction when the receive a piece of my jewellery! ( I still can't quite believe it!)

I really love taking on commissions and working with my customer to produce a piece of jewellery personal to them. I've been lucky enough to make jewellery to mark significant birthdays and also wedding jewellery.

If you have a specific idea in mind, please get in touch so we can discuss it.

I try and be as gentle on the planet as possible. All the silver I use is 100% recycled. Any stones I use are from ethical suppliers.

All my packaging is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. I also use small independent suppliers wherever possible.

I really hope you find something that you love in my shop. But if not, let's design it together.
