These beautiful earrings are made from sterling silver. The silver has been cut and shaped and then the surface has been textured using watercolour paper. I love the texture this gives.
Before applying the 23.5ct gold(I don't know why it's not 24ct!), the earring are fired almost to melting point, cooled and cleaned around nine times. This gives the ideal surface for the application of the gold. This is an ancient Korean technique called Keum Boo. Time consuming but worth it.
They are then burnished around the edges to give a really shiny silhouette.
The total drop is 25mm
